Contract Proposal, Article 14

Evaluation & Faculty Development

Our evaluations proposal is meant to transform the evaluation process from one that can be punitive to one meant to support faculty development.

  • First, the university must acknowledge that there is bias against women faculty, faculty of color, LGBTQ+ faculty, and other marginalized faculty in student evaluations.

  • Second, we proposed that student evaluations should not be weaponized against faculty; rather, the university must use them to provide constructive feedback for faculty to improve as instructors.

  • Third, we proposed that faculty be able to anonymously evaluate the university and their supervisors for factors that impacted faculty’s experience teaching their courses.
